THE DEATH OF THE QUEEN OF THE BELGIANS.
AN UNPLEASANT INCIDENT
Received September 22, 11 p.m
BRUSSELLS, September 22,
Princess Stephanie, on arriving at Spa, went, to the mortuary chamber. King Leopold arrived shortly afterwards and insisted, on the ground of an old family difference, that Princess Stephanie should leave the chamber before he would enter.
Princess Clementine, who brought her, sympathising with her, accompanied her across the park to her carriage, which was waiting, Princess Stephanie sobbing. A large crowd at the station, hearing of the incident, cried, "Vive Stephanie, Vive Princess Lonyay." Princess Stephanie, standing at the door of the saloon carriage, replied, "Thank you, dear citizens," and then immediately started for Brussels.
King Leopold announces that! after the funeral at Laekin he will return to Lucknow.
