After Booker Washington's address to the Negro National Convention in the Baptist Church at Birmingham!, Alabama, a fire was raised, a stampede occurred, and the exits became blocked. A number walked on the heads of the crowd. One hundied and fifteen were killed, the majority being saniothered. Many other negroes were injured.
