ENiTHUSIAISTIC RECEPTION IN BRISBANE.

Despite the late hour of the Miowera's arrival, a large .crowd enthusiastically welcomed Madam© Melba, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Brisbane. The latter presented a beautiful bouquet to Madame Melba, who is in splendid health. She greatly enjoyed and benefited by the. rest and voyage. She told interviewers: "Everybody said I was never in such fine voice as this year in. London. I do hope I will be the same here." •.- She is enthusiastic on re-visiting Australia, and declared that when first she saw the land in the distance she bowed three times to it "for luck." Asked why she made the visit, she said she was determined to come and see her father. Madame Melba stated that she does not know what she will sing in Australia. Nothing has yet been settled, not even the first programme. She did not know whether to sing in opera, but would just love to hear other members of the party—Signora Sassoli (harpist), Fred Griffiths (flautist), ' Miss Davies (pianist). Madame Melba gose to Sydney to-day, anu will proceed to Melbourne on Friday.
