Per Press Association. NAPIER, September 18. An action was commenced n the Supreme Court to-day in which George David Hood, labourer, sues Wenley and Lanauze, merchants, and the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company for £500 damages for injuries received. Plaintiff alleges fhat owing to the negligence of a. storeman. a dump of wool fell upon him and caused injuries of an incurable ntaure. The defendants deny negligence.

TTMARU, September 18. The Supreme Court was occupied all day yesterday hearing a charge of perjury against E. Caw, of Temuka. The charge was one arising from an assault and robbery case, with which Can* was connected. When on trial for this he mvle statement that he was in the Star Hotel, Temukai, and got drinks htere about midnight on the night of the alleged assault. In this- he was said to have ■committed perjury, as the licensee of the Star swore no liquor was served that night after 11, and the boarders in the hotel said they heard no one enter after closing noun*. The negative evidence, it was contended by the defence, would be insufficient corroboration. The jury acquitted accused. Later. At the Supreme Court to-day the re-trial of Dimstan, for breaking into the Temuka Rai'way Station office last month, resulted in an acquittal.

Most of the day was occupied on a criminal assault case at Hilton. The jury disagreed,, and the case Arill be re-heard tomorrow. HAWERA, September 18. At the Police Court yesterday Horace Lancelot Parker, aged 17. a probationer at the Bank of New South Wales, was committed for trial on a charge of stealing moneys and .securities sent by a. bank client by an unregistered 'letter. Sydney Parker, a younger brother, pleaded guilty to stealing a portion of the money fx-om his brother, and was remanded for the report of the Probation Officer. Another youth was charged with the theft of £5, part of the money stolen by Sydney Parker, but the case was dismissed, the Bench being of opinion that there was no criminal intent.
