THE KIDNEYS. Blood is conveyed from the heart to the' kidneys through arteries, and it is the functions of the kidneys to filter the blood, and otherwise separate from it water and various impurities.These impurities are urea, uric acid, and mineral matter. When the kidneys have done their work of purification, the blood enters the veins and traverses the body, accumulating, in its course, a fresh supply of effete matter produced by the wasting of the tissues.
