Per Press .Assonation. MANGAWEKA, September 11. A man named Thomas Carroll Avas found dead in the .card-room of the Langholm Hotel this morning. He was a settler residing three miles from town, and decided not to go home last night. A man named O'Keefe was seriously injured at Utiku. On arriving home he discovered that his whare was on fire. Having money and several kegs of powder, he rushed in to save the money, but the fire being near the powder he tried to throw the powder out, when the keg exploded, blowing the flesh from his arms and face. WELLINGTON, September 11. Mr E. G. Walsh, storekeeper at Blenheim, complained of illness as he was walking along Lambton Quay this morning, and ; died in a, few minutes. NELSON, September 11. News has been received of the death of Mr Keeble, for many years the Union Company's manager here, two days after leaving Auckland, by the Manapouri. He had been ailing lately and was on leave. He died on August 22nd. . NEW PLYMOUTH, September 11. An inquest on McGiven, who was killed on the Breaikwater line on Monday night, was held to-day. The evidence showed that McGiven was perfectly sober when seou shortly before the accident. Apparently he attempted to board the train as it was moving slowly past him. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
