WELLINGTON, Bepteniber 9.

The quantity and vallue of dairy produce and frozen meat exported from the colony last month Tver© as follows—Butter/ 7676 ewts., of the value of £42,471, as compared with 1748 owt. 5 of the value of £8356, in August oi last year. Cheesei, 2128 cwt., at £5340, as compared with 2236 cwt. at £5343. Beef, 10,190 cwt. at £12,810, as compared with 16,651 cwti. at £18,528. Mutton, 77,692 cwt. at £89,829; legs and pieces of mutton, 6670 cwt. at,, £7224, as compared with 3217 owt. at £3742; lamb, 21,252 cwt. at £31,238, as compared with 45,236 cwt. at £65,103.

An interesting comparison of the figures bearing upon the administration of the four central hospitals of the colony was furnished to the Hospital Trustees by the secretary tin's morning. The compilation showed that during the year the Wellington Hospital had the largest number of inpatients, tbe figures being Wellington 1999, Auckland 1982, Christchurch 1610, Dunedin 1310. Wellington's death rate was much lower than that of any of the other hospitals. Wellington also treated the greatest number of outpatient-a daily. The cost of patients in the four hospitals was-^-Auck-land 4s 3-d per head;. Wellington 4s-s*d, Dunedin 4s lid, Christchurch 5s s^d. Deducting money recovered from patients for treatment, the daily cost was—At Auckland 3s 0^ per head;, Wellington 3s 6id, Dunedin 4s 2£d, Christchurch' 4s ll£d. Salaries and cost of repairs, etc., were reckoned in the per head expense. During the last year /Wellington Hospital had to meet heavy expenditure on repairs, and the institution also paid the highest salaries of any hospital in the colo»y.
