Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, September 3.

In the Divorce Court, a decree nisi was granted in the case of Alexander Piper v. Piper and Cook. It was stated that the respondent and co-respondent were last seen in Coolgardie. Later. At the Supreme Court to-day, James v* O'Dowd, of Tapanui, sued Wm. Matheson, a constable, for £200 damages for seizure and retention of documents under a search warrant for discovery of liquor in a slygrog selling case, The constable latterly admitted that he was wrong, and paid £5 and a sum for costs into Court. The documents were receipts and invoices, which/defendant removed from a drawer and ""retained in spite of defendant's protestations. The jury gave a verdict for the sum paid into Court, with costs £7 7s. *

In the Divorce Court yesterday James Guy sought a divorce from Jane Guy on the ground of refusal to restore conjugal rights The parties were married in March last, and after cohabiting three days she left him, giving no reason.for so doing. The petitioner applied to the Court last sittings for restitution of conjugal rights, and an order was made. This, however, respondent ignored, and to a private bailiff said enKphatically that she would not again 'live with her husband. A decree nisi. was granted, to .be made absolute in six months. The Court has risen, most of the civil business being adjourned in view of settlements.
