GISBORNE, September 3
The lighthouse at East Island, the eastermost portion of New Zealand, is now connected with Gisborne by telephone, communication of the land line to the point where the cable lands having been completed. - The lighthouse should be one of t)he most important signalling stations in the colony, and it is hoped the Government will arrange to have all passing vessels reported from there.
