Opera House.

"THE PICKPOCKET" TO-NIGHT. This evening at the Opera House the Wanganui Amateurs reproduce "The Pickpocket." Extended reference has already been made botlh to the comedy and the jperformers, so that, beyond assuring our readers that the production merits the favourable opinions expressed, it is hardly necessary to say more. A veiy large number of visitors are in town for the races to-day and to-morrow, and "The Pickpocket" is sure to be liberally patronised, forming as it will an agreeable conclusion to the day!s sport. We had the pleasure of being present at the final rehearsal last evening, and the members of the cast have certainly benefited by the two previous public performances and subsequent coaching, and, good as the last production undoubtedly was, on this occasion a higher standard of artistic excellence is sure to be reached. The curtain will be rung up promptly at 8 o'clock, and during the intervals Armstrong's Orchestra, will play appropriate music. A few seats are still procurable at H. I. Jones and Son's. We have been requested! to state that the interval between the two scenes in Act I. will be very short, and patrons are asked not to leave their seats. We hope to see the Opera House packed this evening, for the comedy is one that appeals to patrons of every portion of the house, and the Society deserve good treatment at the hands of the /public.
