(From Our Own Correspondent.) MARTON, Tuesday. . Tho Chamber of Commerce has asked the Postal Department to have a letterbox placed at the Marton station, and one in Wellington road, anid there is every probability of the request being acceded to. The one at tlie station, besides beingof great benefit to the travelling public, will be of great use to residents around, the station locality, who now have to journey a mile or so to have their letters posted. The Government has placed £1000 on the Estimates for the Ohinigaiti-Pemberton road.

Branchman W. Hughes was last night) unanimously appointed custodian of tli3 Fire Brigade station. To test the recent repairs to the firebell, it wrill be rung at 0.30 on Wednesday afternoon.
