WANGANUI HOOKEY ASSOCIATION

A special meeting of tJjj,? Wanganui Hockey Association was held on Monday night to consider tihe circular received from the Canterbury Association regarding the recently-formed New Zealand Hockey Association at Christchurch.

Present: Messrs. W. J. Treadwell (in. the chair), H. G. Caddy, Hugill (T.Y.M.1.), J. Gogs and Loftus (Wanganui), Dewdney and Olliver i(Baptisfcs), H. Campbell (Easttown) .

The President explained the object of the meeting, briefly outlining tlie history of tha formation of the New Zealand Hockey Association, and ealited upon the secretary to read the letter from" tihe Canterbury Association.

After some discussion, in which the speakers were unanimous in condemning the action of tJie: Canterbury Association in taking tliis important step, without consulting1 North Island Associations, the following resolution was passed : "That the Wanganui Hockey Association is ready to join witih the other Associations in the colony in forming a New Zealand Hockey Association, but that-the Association declines to recognise as such the body at Christ-church, recently registered as the New Zealand Hockey Association, and considers that the registration should be cancelled, and tlie proceedings commenced de novo at a, conference of delegates from all the Associations."

It was decided to. postpone the matches set down for next Thursday.

. A vote of tlianks to Mr. Tread-well for presiding was passed, and' tflie meeting terminated.

Members of the Wangmiui hockey team are requested to roll iip at the Racecourse at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon for the purpose of indulging in a practice game previous to tho Old BoyS' football match.
