The steamer Saxon, with Botha, De Web, and De la Rey aboard, reached Portsmouth at 10 o'clock on Saturday morning. They wore met by Miss Emily Hobhouse, Abraham Fischer., and Dr. Clark for the Cbnsul-General of England 'in the South African Republic. There was a tremendous concourse of people, who cheered lustily upon landing.

All three accepted the invitation to witness:the naval review, but latei v, after consulting Fischer, they refused.

The visitors went aboard the steamer Nigeria, -where Lord Kitchener introduced thenr to> Lord Roberts and the Hon. J. Chamberlain. The latter had a. long conversation with each, and they also had several minutes' talk with, Botha's ten-ye:tr-old son. The Boers; entrained for London, and were received withi wild enthusiasm at 'Waterloo station. They return to C'owes to-day to visit the King. Received August 18, 9.6 a.m. -^ONDCKN". August 17. A crowd mobbed the Boer General' saloon a,t Waterloo, crying "Good old De Wet!" "Brave soldieaisi!" and "We are all united." The railway police and porters cleared a .space to reach two railway 'busses, which were cheered through the streets. Pressmen pursued the cabs to the hotel, but the Generals declined to be interviewed, though they announced that they were delighted witlb their reception. They proceed to Holland' shortly, if possible for Lucas Meyer's funeral on Tuesday. The party inctudes Mrs. De.la lley and Commandant Ferriera's wife.
