CHRISTCHURCH, August 16. For the Grand National Meeting (third day) there was splendid weather and a good attendance. The totalisator investments for the day were £12,349, the amount for the meeting being £39,583, as compared with £43.173 for last year's fixture. Residte : — Hunters' Steeplechase.—Zither 1, Matarawa 2, Doopey 3. G. 8.0. was scratched. Time, 4min, 7 4/ssec. Dividend, £21 4s. Won easily. Brab fell at the stand double and broke "his nesk. Heathcote Hack Flat,—Fleka 1, Sowerled 2, Cora Linn 3. Winsome was scratched A good race. Won on the post. Time, lmin. 32 l/ssec. Dividends, £3 10s and £2 2s 6d. . Sydenham Hurdies.-—Mars 1, Skipper i, Scottish Minstrel 3. Cavaliero. Long Tom. and Redoubt were scra/tched. A splendid race. Skipper led for the most of the distance, but after the last hurdle Mars came with a rush and won by a length. Time. 3min. 27sec. Dividend. £2 13s. Third Hunters' Hurdles.—Hurricane 1, Inchcape 2, Hutana. 3. A very good race., At the last hurdle Phaetonitis fell, giving W G. Stead a bad shaking. Slow Tom, First Shot, Skobeloff and Epsom were scratched. Time. 3min. 11 4/ssec. Dividends. £2 2s 6d and £2 11s 6d. Lincoln Steeples.—Sultana 1, Straybird 2 Awahuri 3. Time. smin. 7sec. Dividends, £10 14s and £2 3s. Sultana came through and. won easily after the last hurdle. Selwyn Handicap (flat).— Goldspur 1, Windwhistle 2, Wintiome 3. Cora Linn and Field Battery were scratched. A gool race; won on the post. Time. lmin. i.9 4/ssec. Dividends, £2 8s and £1 19s 6d. Final Hurdles.—Smithy 1, Long Tom 2, Surrey 3. Mars. Shylock, and Redoubt were scratched. Long Tom led till after the last'hurdle, when Smithy came through and won by a length. Time, 3min. 3 4/ssec. Dividend, £2 12s. , Hunters' Plate.—lnchcape 1, bkobeiott 2, Single Event 3. Tufto. Zither, Phaetonitis and Doopey were scratched. Won by two lengths. *Time. 2min. 50sec. Dividends, £9 10s and £1 9s.
