The King, replying to the Portsmouth Corporation address, said: On behalf of the Queen and myself, I thank' you cordially for your congratulations oil our Coronation and my recovery from illness, and the conclusion of peace. I am uufeignedly thankful for the, mercies which fb ha* pleased Almighty God! .to. vouchsafe us and
our people, and trust ,now that we are happily at peace again with all the world, the rec'entr rejoicings, whereinl the whole of the Empire shared, may send, us forward each in our own station to work with renewed earnestnesis for the maintenance and improvement of our noble heritage and. accomplishmentsl,' to the end that we become a great people.
