MR. WILLIS IN REPLY.
To the Editor
Sir, —Yourself and correspondents appear concerned because lately I received and accepted an invitation to attend a, meeting of the licensed victuallers of Wanganui. I fail to see why, a« a member foi' the district, I should not have done so. If I were inviteu by the Prohibition League to attend one of their committee meetings I should do so with equal pleasure. But to put myself right, it it1 as well to state that at the meeting referred to I neither gave pledges nor conditions of any kind, nor was I a.sked to make any. The. attitude I have always taken up in licensing .matters is perfect independence, nor do I intend to depart in any way from tliis course. I am always "willing to receive suggestions or propositions from either side, but reserve to myself the right of decoding upon the course that I consider just.—l am, etc., A. D. WILLIS.
