In answer to n question, the Hon. W. C. Walker Sitid tht services of a number of the Permanent, Artillery were olgally availed of as gaol warders when the necessity of the State required it. The Dunedin Town Belt Road Closing and Regulation, Christ-church District Drainage, Wellington Harbour Board! Empowering, Christchurch Tramway District, jJilworfch Trustees, University of Otago Empowering, and Masterton Trustees Empowering Bills were received from, the House of Representatives and read a first time.
The Council rose at 3.15 ,p.in
