WANGANUI RIFLES

Tho second series of Morris Tube competitions commences this week. Entirely new conditions have been drawn up, which necessitate dividing the Company into two classes—Class A, consisting of the scratch men. and Class B of the remainder of the Company. Four trophies have been voted by tho council--One to Class A and three to Class B. Ammunition prizes will, as heretofore, be allotted. for each match. A new departure has been made in including vanishing target matches, which are to be n'rea in accordance with the new class firing regulations. Apart from the amusement afforded by these matches, they will train the Volunteer to use his rifle quickly and with precision., and bring out some of the Rood qualities which are* necessary on the field.

' Full conditions for the whole of the competitions are posted in the Orderly Room for perusal by members. The first match is to be fired this afternoon and Saturday afternoon and evening. Conditions : Range 15 yards ; target representing a Third Class vanishing target a* 100 yards!, which will be exposed 4 seconds; 7 shots arid one sighter (not to count; any military position, but the competitor must wait, at the proper "ready" of that position for the target »to appear. The following are the classes and handicaps : —

Class A (no handicaps.) Captain Redmond. Lieute. Spencer and Logan, Cbl.-Sergt. Purser, Sergts. Scott. Forder. Bolton, and Cox, Corpl. Andrew and Winslade, Vols. Anderson. Drew, Meredith, Ransom and Stewart.

Class B. Cbrpl. McLean, Lance-Corpl. Dykes; Bugler Remington, Vols. G. Brown, R. Brown. Bennett, Bretherton. Cornelius, Fowler. Foster, Gilbert, A. Harrison, G. Harrison. Lock, Lookhart, Mahoney, McCarthy, Peters, Northoroft. Rigsrs , Redmond. Smithies, TrautVetter, C. Tremewan, B. Tremewan, Thomson and J. Harrison, scratch.

Lance-Corpl. Willis, Vols. Botfc, Corrigan, Grilbertson, Graham , Huckster, Jensen, Neville, Purves. Robinson and Rabene one point.

Vols. Dudley, Earles, Ellis. Hall, Pleasants?, Spelling- and Voyce 3 two point*.
