CHRISTCHURCB, August 14.
At the Arbitration Court thitf morning W. Newton, a member of the Conciliation Board appear'ad for the Furnituremakers' Union. Objection was taken to his appearing, on the ground of his being >a member of the Coi).eiliatson* Board. The Court considered it had no power to exclude him, but considered that it would be good taste on. his part to withdraw. After the discussion lie he did so.
WELLINGTON, August 14.
Tho conference of the Tailoresses' Union Federation ia still sitting here in jprivate. It had under consideration to-day a communication from the Clothing Manufacturers' Association, in which the Federation was asked to join with the Association in such action a& will result in the bringing of the Auckland' conditions - as1 to wages, etc., into line with, other factories of the colony.
