SERIOUS TRAP ACCIDENT.

NAPIER, March 12,

A serious trap accident occurred' at .Hastings this evening. A trap' belonging to Mr. J. MeXiven. and driven by an employee, was proceeding along the Karamu road when the horse ran into a trap driven by Mr. H. Hawthorne, and containing alady and child, who were thrown out and .somewhat hurt-. The. horse attached to Hawthorne's: trap being startled by ■ the collision, kicked himself clear and bolted, running into and smashing a trap driven by Mr. MoLeod, and continuing on ran into another trap driven by Mr. H. A. Mossinan. and also containing Mrs. Mossliian, sen., and a child. This trap was also sma!-:hed and its occupants thrown out. the child sustaining concussion of the brain. The hor.se which had been attached to Hawthorne's trap having broken its leg in the last collision, had to be destroyed by Constable Butler. As the child, who sustained concussion of the brain, is still unconscious, it is impossible to say at piesent how serious the injury is likely to be. ' "
