A HACK means a horse that has never won an advertised race (Hack and Hunter Races excepted), and is hot nominated at the time of starting for any race (Hack and Hunter Races excepted); and has not at the time of nomination won a. race of the value of 80sovs, or races of the collective value of 150sovs since August Ist, 1899. (See Rule 44.) Owners starting any horse not eligible under the above rule will be liable to disqualification. NOMINATIONS AND ACCEPTANCES. Nominations for Nos. 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7 close on MONDAY, February 10. Weights declared on or about MONDAY, February 24. Acceptances for all events, and entries for Nos. 2, 5, and 8, close WEDNESDAY, March 5. RULES AND REGULATIONS. To which the attention of persons entering horses is particularly cirected. AIL entries, nominations, etc., will clcse at the Secretary's Office, Stratfoid, at 9 p.m. Telegraph office closes at 8 p.m. All entries to be sealed mid addressed to the Secretary, Stratford Racing Club, entrance money enclosed, with the name, age at the time of entry, rame of owner, ■l-edigree,' colours of the rider, and in the cpsa of handicaps, performances of the horse. All persons intending to % ithdraw Worses are required to give notice to the Secretary, oi- Clerk of the Scale?, one half-hour bef(,re the official time for starting the race. Any, person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine, to b,a imposed by the Stewards not exceeding 20>ovs, to the Race Fund. Stakes are paid in full. All races to be run under the N.Z. Ruics of Racing. No entry will be received aftor .the hour named, under any pretence whatever. Horses walking" over will receive 50 per cent, of stakes. N.B. —The Committee reserve to themselves the right of altering tlie dates of entries and handicaps should they deem fit to do so. PENALTIES. The winners of any fiat race after publication of weights to carry 71bs penalty; two or more races, lOlbs penalty in all flat handicaps ; or, if he thinks fit, the Jiand:capper may re-handicap the winner of any race after declaration of weights.
