A HACK means a horse that has never won an advertised race (Hack and Hunter Races excepted), and is not nominated at the time of starting for any race (Hack and Hunter Rr.ces excepted); and has not at the tune of nomination won a race of the value of 80sovs, or races of the collective value of 150sovs since August Ist, 1899. (See Rule 44.) Owners starting any horse not eligible under the above rule will be liable to disqualification. NOMINATIONS AND ACCEPTANCES. Nominations for Nos. 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7 olose on MONDAY, February 10. Weights declared on or about MONDAY, February 24. Acceptances for all events, and entries for Nos. 2, 5, and 8, close WEDNESDAY, March 5. RULES AND REGULATIONS. To which the attention of persons entering horses is particularly directed. All entries, nominations, etc., will close at the Secretary's Office, Sbratfoid, at 9 p.m. Telegraph office closes at 8 p.m. All entries to be sealed and addressed to the Secretary, Stratford Racing Club, en- ■ trance money - enclosed, with the name, age at the time of entry, mine of owner, 1 edigree, colours of the rider, and in the cas9 of handiuaps, performances! of the horse. All persons intending to ithdraw 'loises are required to give notice to the Secretary, or Clerk of the Scales, one half-hour before the official time for s-t.irting the race. Any person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall nay a fine, to hi imposed by" the Stewards, not excoediiii; 20povs, to the Race Fund. ■ Stakes are paid in full. All races to be run under the N.Z. Rules of Racing. No entry will bo received after the hour named, under any pretence whatever. Horses walking over will receive 50 per cent, of stakes. N.B.—Tho Committee reserve to themselves the right of altering the dates of entries and handicaps should they deem fit to do so. PENALTIES. The winners of any Hat race after publication of weights to carry 71bs penalty; two or moro races, lOlbs penalty in all flat • handicaps ; or, if he thinks fit, the handicapper may re-handicap the winner of any race after declaration of weights. Owners are responsible for all penalties. (See Rule 34.)
