Mr. W. G. Murray, chief surveyor of Westland has been promoted to the charge of the Nelson district. He left for the north this afternoon. Prior to hif* departure a number of citizens, headed by the Mayor, waited on Mr. Murray, and presented him with an address. Several speeches were made, ejilogistie of the good work done during Miv--Murray's long association with the public service in this part "of the colony. Mr. F. B.
