PORT NICHOLSON ANNIVERSARY
REGATTA.

WELLINGTON, January 25. Three events on the programme of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club's Anniversary Regatta were sailed this afternoon. There was a, whole-sail novth-north-west breeze, which was n little lluky off Korokoro and Te Aro. The water was almost smooth.
The rating race for first-class yachts was taken part in by the Waitangi, Rainbow, and lorangi, which got away in that order at about 2.30 p.m., within 22secs. of each other. The finishing times were as follow— lorangi 4hrs. 51min. p.m., Waitangi 4hrs. 53min. 15sec. p.m., Rainbow 4hrs. 58min. 53sec. The time allowances did not alter the positions of the boats, and they were placed as they finished.
In the race for second-class yachts there were five competitors. The Siren crossed the finishing line one second ahead of the Maxima, but the latter gained the first prize with lmin. 24sec. to spare on her time allowance.
A handicap race for third-class yachts was -won by the Karaka, with Mahutu second
