SYDNEY, January 2. The State revenue for the half-year, exclusive of Commonwealth contributions, decreased by £2000 compared with, the previous corresponding half. If the Commonwealth . revenue were included it would have shown a large increase. The "Herald," in a. commercial review, saj's the bulk of the trade was compressed into the earlier half before the Federal tariff troubles. It has been a very satisfactory year. Heavy stocks win be carried over, but they are mostly duty free. i The trade has been conducted on exeeptioni ally sound lines dluring the year. fllhe "Daily Telegraph" says the year was one in which the evidences of expansion were numerous and well denned, yet give results which to some extent are fictitious. The prospects are not too brilliant for the new year. The lower prices for many of our commodities and increased taxation is not an encouragement, apart from tariff uncertainties. ADELAIDE, January 2. The revenue for the half-year shows a decrease of £224,000, of which £140,000 is covered by Federal expenditure:
