ST. PAUL'S HALL.

MISS DORA JUDSON'S PIANOFORTE

RECITAL.

The object of the recital (in aid of tbe Nurses' Home) ought to have ensured a good house, apart from the excellence of the programme. If, however, the numbers were small, the enthusiasm was great, each number being- much enjoyed. Miss Dora Judson made a most favourable impression by her artistic interpretation of Greig's Bolb'jrg suite, comprising prelude, sarabande, and rigadon, receiving a floral tribute ou her well-merited recall. Miss Judson was again heard to advantage in a beautiful "Romance"' of Schumann, with which was bracketed a "Barcarolle" by Rubinstein, each of wiueh served to display her brilliant execution and admirable technique. The encore was accepted. Miss Judsions concluding number was Chopin's beautiful "Nocturne" in F sharp, bracketed with a valse in E minor by the same composer, the fair piajiiste being again encored. All Miss Judson's contributions were played from' memory. Miss Redmond confirmed the favourable opinion "obtained at the recent cpneert of the Orchestral pl'Ub. contributing1 "Last Night" (Kjeiiilf) and' "The Last Muster" (Pqntet). Bqtihsongs were much appreciated, the latter being encored, when Miss) Redmond gave "Lifes Lullaby." Ncft the least enjoyable item in v most excellent programme was the violin solo of Mjsf. Claudia Price, In tlie difficult "Mazurka" of Wieniawski, the young artist was at her best, which means a good deal.
