Two commandos, numbering 700. unsuccessfully attempted to cross thft Orangs River into Cjapa Colony. The invaders of the- midland districts at the Cape are attempting to move south to join Soheeper's force in the vicinity of Mudshoon.
The "Standard's" correspondent says that Kruger is convinced that the Czar's attention to Vanderhoven (who attended the wedding of Prince Oldenburg as a representative of. the Transvaal) implies that lihe Czar and President Loubet will discuss the question of intervention. Two Boer sympathisers at Middleburg have been sentenced to two months' imprisonment for secretly entertaining the enemy, and about one hundred disfranchised burghers at Dor]}. Middleburg, and elsewhere for treasonable conduct.
