RAILWAY FATALITY.

A MAN HORRIBLY MUTILATED

(Per Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, August 22,

A man about 40 to 45 years of age was terribly mutilated at the Rattray Street railway crossing to-night. So far he has not been identified, and nothing was found on him to give any clue to his identity. The man was evidently caught by the train in shunting, while" going or coming from the wharf, and carried from one side of the street to the other, probably a dozen waggons passing over him. His left thigh and right arm are smashed, right foot and right hand cut off, threefourths of his scalp torn away, and his chest injured. He was taken to the Hospital, where he died at about 11.30.
