JOSEPHINE STANTON AMERICAN OPERA COMPANY.

Miss Josephine Stanton and her American Company announce a visit to Wanganui with a season of five nights, beginning on Tuesday next, August 27th. The management holds the rights of a large number of English and American successes-, and these will be introduced in rapid succession. The initial production on Tuesday will be Vincent Wallace's immortal work, "Maritana," an opera that will live for evei% and which the Stanton Company played with great success in Christ-church during Grand National week. This Company is entirely American in composition, the 40 artists associated with it having been selected from the. leading American theatres. The prima donna (Miss Josephine Stanton) is a genuine artiste, and is an exemplification of the fact that operatic stars are born, not made, for by virtue of her undoubted talents this young lady has reached the topmost rung of the theatrical ladder by leaps and bounds, and to-day enjoys an enviable position vainly striven for by many professionals twice her age. In "Ma'ritana" she sustains the name part, and her representation of it evokes everywhere the highest praise, so that musiclovers may confidently expect a treat. Thebos: plan opens this "morning at Messrs H. I. Jones and Son's, where seats may be reserved.
