REMARKABLE EVIDENCE.
LONDON, August 14. The Commission appointed to inquire into the claims of foreign residents of South Africa for damages through the war, heard interesting evidence rebutting claims for the hardships of certain Americans. The evidence sihowed that some of the claimants, deported in connection with the plot against Lord Roberts, belonged to secret societies, while others had often been in
prison. The chairman, on behalf of the Government, offered travelling expenses if anyone of these claimants would attend the sittings of tihe Commission.
