EGMONT ; FARMERS' UNION, LTD.,

MARKET REPORT.

At Stratford, on 26th July, we had a good yarding of stock. Bidding for most lines was brisk, resulting in a fair amount of business. Fat cows, £4 to £4 16s; store cows, £3 to £5 lls; cows in calf, £5 to £6 10s; heifers in calf, £4 to £5 17s 6d•; empty heifers, £2 18s to £3 4s; 18-months steers, £3 Is to £3 14s 6d; yearling steers, £2 12s to £3. Our horse fair on Saturday, 27th ult.. was well attended by buyers for good classes of horses. Draughts, £23 to £40 2s 6d; harness horses, £9 10s to £18; hacks £4 to £13 7s 6d; unbroken horses; £3 to £16.

-At the' Glover Road Yards, on Ist inst., not quite the number of advertised stock came forward. Bidding was not brisk, but with the exception of a' few old cows, every pen was sold before the close of the auction. Fat and forward bullocks, £6 5s to £6 12s; 3-year steers, £5 10s to £5 17s 6d; 2-year steers, £3 18s; fat cows, £4 10s to £5 Is; 18-m'onth steers, £3 11s; store cows, £3 is to £3 14s; empty heifers, £3 to £3 4s 6d;. yearlings, mixed, £2 2s to, £2 8s; weaners, 15s to 19s; spi'ingers,; £4 10s to £6. Sheep: Store ewes, 11s 2d.

At Mr Single's clearing sale, on Friday. August 2nd, there was a good attendance of buyers, and the stock were in the best condition of any we have had the pleasure of selling. The dairy herd was a splendid lot, and when the average price realised for the 85 dairy cows was £8 4s 6d per head we need not comment further upon their quality. This average price is not made up by leaving out all the old cows,; which bring low prices (as many averages are arrived at) but for the whole line. A number of cows sold from £10 up to £12 2s 6d. Yearling steers, £2 10s; yearling heifers, £2 3s 6d. Draught mares, £36 and £45 10s; harness horses, £10 12s 6d and £'21.. Sheep: 4-tooth ewes, in lamb, £14 3s; ff.m. ewes, •13s; bull, £8 10s. .
