JUNIOR CUP.

ARAMOHO v. T.Y.M.I,

T.Y.M.I. WINS THE CUP,

Speculation had been rife for the last two or llliree weeks as to which team would come out on top in the junior cup contest. The T.Y.M.I, s had won all their matches so far and Aramoho had been beaten only once,- so that a win on the part of the latter over the former would jia.ve placed both teams on a level footing. They have both been training hard in view of the final bout, but Aramoho were hot favourites. The form shown by the T.Y.M.I. in their last two or three matches Ihaa been such as to make their chances seem small. It was therefore thought by the Arumobo. supporters that ■

their champions would have no difficulty in scoring a win. Saturday was not a good day for football, but the Rsc. proved to be very little the worse for the rain which had fallen. Aramoho won the toss, and elected to Icicle wi.\U the wind. F. Ansley set the ball in motion, a.nd Aramoho returned into touch. On the ball coming into play the Aramoho backs started a rush, and were awarded a free kick for T.Y.M.I. offside. The T.Y.M.I. forwards spoilt the kick, and from a T.Y.M.I. free kick Aramoho marked, but the shot at goal was unsuccessful, and T.Y.M.I. forced. On the kick off the Aramoho forwards secured the ball, and a knock-on prevented a score. Up to this time play was chiefly confined to the T.Y.M'.I. 25, but with, a free kick H. Davis relieved his side ,and play was I transferred,! to thie opposite- end. Once I again Aramoho became dangerous, and I Fremont, after a good run, kicked well down the line. "Dodger" Ansley here relieved with a good kick,, but the Aramoho forwards started a fine dribbling rush, which was stopped- in great style by Walsh wiiih a lucky "speculator." Shortlyafter the whistle sounded half-time with no score.

On Aramoho setting the ball into motion, "Dodger" secured a mark, and returned into touck The Aramoho backs tlien secured the ball and started a good passing rush, which was smartly stopped by Meuli, who kicked the ball into.touch.. Davis then secured a mark,- and "Dodger" made a splendid but unsuccessful attempt at goal from about half way. For a time the T.Y.M.I. forwards pressed very hard, and looked like scoring, until a free kick by Aramoho relieved them. Here Beaven worked the ball back by a fine piece _of dribbling, which was. stopped by Quin. Aramoho 'then started a good passing rush, but Walsh intercepted a pass and found ijke line. On the throw in, a good forward rush «nded in Ansley securing the ball and scoring near the posts. The same player landed a good .goal. Scorp—■ T.Y.M.I. 5, Aramoho 0. From this on the Aramoho forwards showed signs of being done, and play was chiefly confined to their 25. Shortly after no side was called without further score. The game was chiefly of a forward nature, neither side being able to get the ball' out to their backs much. For lihe winners "Dodger" I Ansley at centre and Simon five-eighths i iftiyed a great game among the backs. Walsh was too. well marked and got scarcely a chance. The forwards all played a hard game, McGulloch and H. Davis being conspicuous on several occasions. If or the losers Quin and Holmes did most work among the .backs, and the Haywood brothers put in good work-in the forwards.

The representative team will meet for practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week at) Messrs. Johnston's voolshed, Ridgvray street, at 7.30 o'clock each evening. Full attendances; are requested at each practice, as the team will need to make great improvement io make anything like a stand -against Wairarapa next Saturday.

The '"Times," in reporting the meeting of the Management Committee of the N.Z. Rugby Union, held at Wellington on Friday evening lasb, says—?The secretary of the Wanganui Rugby Union wrote asking whether his. Union had the power to demand the production of the minute-book of an .affiliated club. It was resolved to reply that in the opinion of the committee ;v Union was entitled to the production of any evidence which might be required in the prosecution of any inquiry. In the event of the club refusing to produce the evidence required, the local Union would be justified in treating the refusal as misconduct and punishing the club accordingW . ..'.'-.
