NEW VICTORIAN GOVERNOR.
I Pre«s , Association—Telegraiph—Copyright. LONDON, August 9. The "Times" says Colonel Sir George Clarke's appointment to Victoria will be welcome to all friends of consolidation ties between the Motherland and the Commonwealth. The selection is due to the valuable advice and assistance he was able to give Lord Hopetoun on the question whereon Colonel Clarke has so long been a recognised authority.
