The chairman explained to the deputation that the Council sympathised with the application, but pointed out that the Wafaganui County Council's position was scarcely the same as the Waitotara County, inasmuch as a great deal of the work of the former body was done by the Road Boards, and lie suggested that they should be approached by the deputation. Cr. Georgetti favoured granting £5, Cr. Fletcher, considered the Council should devote its money to the roads, and Cr. Robinson explained that the upper portion of tho County had no benefit whatever from the Library and it would be unfair to taxe the ratepayers in, Mangawhero and Upper Wangaehu districts. The chairman agreed to draft a letter to the Road Boards, pointing out the Council's position and suggesting that they should contribute. ' .' . ' ' .
