The Council met at 2.30,
It was resolved, on the motion of the Hon. Mr. Jennings, and on the casting vote of the Speaker, that a return be furnished showing for the past five years— (1), the number of births regisiereu. and tlie number of vaccinations recorded; (2) hoT®many cases for non-compliance with compulsory clauses have been instituted by registrars ' for the past five years, and how many persons were fined for refusing to have their children vaccinated.
The Lands for 'Settlements Amendment Bill, was read a first tame.
The Cemetery Trustees Validation Bill passed all stages. The Police Offences Amendment Bill was read a second time, and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee.
The second reading of the Referendum Bill was adjourned after a-speech by Hon. G. McLean in apposition. At 4.5 i/he Council adjourned till 8 p.m. The Council met to-night and passed the Imprest Supply Bill for £470,000 through all its stages without amendment.
