RANGITIKEI NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
MARTON, Friday. The appearance of the Maori singers at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday next is announced, and a musical treat is in store for patrons. Captain Sterling wiii probably sing one or two items by special request, including one from Madame Spada's numbers.
The Marton Hotel has had a thorough renovating by Mi*. J. G. Campbell and his staff. From back to front, and from floor to celling, has either been artistically painted or papered, and presents a neat and attractive apxiearance. Mr. R. E. Beckett held a successful sale of farm implements and stock at Messrs. Symonds and 'Pickfdrd's yesterday, thie prices obtained being well up to market' vahies.
The ladies of Marton have again taken in hand the catering for the Fire Brigade bail on the 23rd August, which is sufficient guarantee that that part of the function will be the success it has hitherto been. The Brigade are endeavouring to raise sufficient money for the purchase of six more uniforms, which will complete the required number.
