HOCKEY

The annual general meeting of the Wanganui Hockey Club was held at the Metropolitan- Hotel last night. There was a large attendance of members, which speaks well for the coming season. Tho President (Mr Lloyd Jones) was in the chair.

The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted, the latter showing a substantial credit balance.

The resignation of the secretary (Mr F. de J. Robin), owing- to his business affairs interfering with his secretarial duties, was accepted with regret. The election of officers resulted as follows : —President, Lloyd Jones, Esq. (ree]ect«d); vice-president. W. J. Treadwoll, Ksq. (re-elected); secretary and treasurer, Mr P. J. Bell; captain, Mr L. Peake (rceleoted); vice-captain, Mr W. L. Youm* (re-elected); committee, Messrs F. a! Earkness, G. Larking and S. L. Wright (Thursday players), Messrs ]<]. G. Atkinson, A. Delves and S. Dayison (Saturday players).

Tho chairman reported that there woniid bo ;i difficulty in obtaining a ground to play on during tho forthcoming season. After considerable discussion, a deputation was .appointed to co-operate with the other clubs to wait on the Wanganui Jockey Club with a, view to obtaining permission forthe use of the centre of the racecourse. Several other minor matters were left for the committee to deal with.

It is to be hoped that the club will obtain a suitable ground for this splendid sport.
