The ordinary monthly^ meeting of the above body commenced, last nignt, Then there were present—Messrs Bridge (Chairman), 13. C. Bobbins, R. A. Adams, W. T. Wood, F. Pirani, F. Y. L.ethbridge.
The" minutes of the previous meeting ■were read and, confirmed.
The Board then went into committee to consider appointments and other business. . Terrace End: Miss Scott appointed an assistant. Mr A.-H. Powell promoted to position of first-assistant. -■■, , .■. Kawhitiroa: Resignation of Miss Spence, P.T., .accepted. Western Rangitikei: Resignation of Miss Maunder accepted. Resolved, that Mr Ross report at next meeting as to the advisability of closing theschool, owing to the small attendance. . ■■.'. Q Waitohi: Resignation of Miss Greenaway accepted. , .... : Moawhango: Appointment of Mr G. H. Marshall confirmed.
Orangipongo: Resignation of Miss r Wilson accepted. College Street: Leave of absence for three months, with one month's pay., granted to Miiss Oakley. Utiku: Appointment of Mr T. B. Slipper confirmed. Relieving Teachers: Miss Farr appointed with the Wanganui Girls' School as her station; Mr A. Matheson appointed' for two months with Campbell Street' School as his station. "
Kawera: Resolved, that applications be invited for the position of assistant, at a salary of £75 per annum and bonus, and that preference be given to one qualified to give -instruction in science and other secondary subjects. The Chairman was requested to visit the school and report as to the. need for increased accommodation. 1 Appointment of Mr R. S. Collie, M.A., as assistant master'confirmed. Mr Pirani moved, '"That the attention of the Education Department be called to tho fact that the salaries paid by this Board to teachers in the post" would have bsen very much lower, onlyi' for the fact that the allowances to school committees were based upon a very; inadequate scale, and that in proposing any additions to salaries it is hoped the low allowances to school committees in this education, district be also taken into, consideration." This was seconded by "Mr Lethbridge and carried. Technical School Palmerston—The building committee was authorised to call for tenders for the erection of "the Technical School at Palmerston North.
