The Tramway's Committee of the City Council to-night reported to the Council in favour of taking a poll1 of ratepayers for a loan of £225,000 for the installation of a system of electric tramways. The scheme involves."the equipment of a double track between Newtowa and Thorndon at a guago of 4 feetrߣ inches, with extensions to Island Bay, Oriental-Bay, Botanical Gardens and Upper Willis Street. The power generating station will also have to biMrected. The committee report -was adopted by the Council after a long debate.
