A magnificent meteor was witnessed in
the western districts. As it traversed the
sky it developed a blase of light, accompanied with a rushing sound. It burst with a, flash of blue red fire, lighting up the whole heavens.
'BRISBANE, March 3. Owing to one being informal there are 16 nominated for six seats in the Senate. MELBOURNE, March. 3. Arrived—Brisbane from Kaipara. and Moana. SYDNEY, March 3. Medical opinion is that it is plague, but there is no need of alanf: The Antillian never came near the wharf. BRISBANE, March 3. Tho plague victim was a youth named Kehlcr. Curative serum is being used to v good effect. Received, March 3rd, 5.17 p.m. SYDNEY, March 3. Tlw millitary authorities a,t the Cape have advised Sir W. Lyne that owing to tho plague in Capetown Australian military mails will ba sent vk London.
Sir W. Lyric has been informed that two thousand of tho fouir thousand rifles ordered by tha Government have been shipped for Sydney.
