RANGITIKEI DEFEATS VICTORIA,

MARTON, March 3. ihe polo match between the Victorian reps, and Rangitikei came off on the Bulla ground yesterday afternoon, and resulted m a ; win for Rangitikei (after a fast and exciting game) by 9 to 6. A start was made promptly at 2.3u, and play had been in progress only a faw minutes when Victoria, scored a goal, which they followed up by scoring another goal to Rangitikei's one. The spell ended Victoria 2, Rangitikei 1. After changing ponies a start was made with the second spell, in wnich Rangitikei scored. This spell ended—Victoria Md Rantltikci 2 all. Before the end of the third spell Victoria scored again—3— 2, and the next spell saw Rangitikei score two goals to Victoria's one, which made 4 • c,? next s Pel:! sides scored again—s all After changing ponies a start was made again with-the, fifth spell, which ended without either side scoring! 7 f si rth *Bpel 1 1 Rangitikei ahead bY i■* x, haTlge °f ponies was again mode for the last spell, which was fast and furious, Victoria striving hard to regain flieir. defeat of the preceding spell!, gbut Rangitikei proved too good for them, and the game ended-Rangitikei 9. Good feeling was manifested on both sides, and the umpire's decisions gave the utmost satisfaction. There was a bijr attendance from far .and near to witness the match, and as this is Victoria's first defeat since playing in the colony, it is all the, nwre creditable for Rangitikei. me Victorian members were afterwards entertained by the Rangitikei Polo Club '
