THE SYDNENHAM RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
SYDNEY, February 28. At the inquest re the Sydenham accident, the juiy, witnesses and experts visited the scene. Sir Carruthers pointed out where he saw a broken fissh plute, which he declared to have been replaced, but the experts who examined it swore it had! not.. Mr Carruthers said it was impossible to swear to the exact rail. It was a. farce to ask t--locate it after repairs. Two other witnesses, who stated they saw the broken plate just after the accident, located diSerent places, and complained of the repairs having been mode. .
Mr Fettler pointed out a fish plate two rails beyond the spot pointed out by Mr. C'arruthers. Another witness deposed that be examined the line a few minutes after the disaster, and! confirmed Fettler's statement. He saw distinct indications tbu.t the engine ■went off two rails lengths netuier Sydney. I SYNEY, February 28. M. McDonald broke the Australian plunging record, coYe'ring 68 feet 7i inches.
