DEATH UNDER SINGULAR CIRCUMSTANCES.
Fib Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 13. * A death under somewhat singular circumstances occurred at St. Clair Beach this afternoon. John Heartley, a seaman,, was seen to undress opx>ositc the Esplanade and go into the water. He rolled about among the surf and then stood up. He was ssen apparent" y to fall down, and 'the rollers carried him out. When examined life- was not extinct, but before Dr Watt could arrive from the Forbury Camp the man was dead. He had been employed lately -as _ uightwatchman on the steamer R-imu, and had been drinking somewhat heavily.
