His Counci' would support the Rangitikei Council :o protest Against any work that may tie gone on with by the Government without having protective works erected. at the Bridge. — Dr. Bennett, Mr Masters, and Cr. Newman endorsed the views of the previous speaker. — Cr. Bennett stated that- the Council should refuse to have anything to do with Government unless substantial p-otective works were erected and approved of by the Engineer-in-Chief. — Cr. Johnston alsj spoke, and said he thought it was uot wise nor prudent to entertain the idea at all. — As will be seen elsewhere the Council decided to accept a tender independent of the Government going ou with tho permanent bridge.
