It is officially announced by the War Office that the and Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment, and a Mountain Battery, after losing heavily, capitulated to the enemy during the fighting in the vicinity of Lady.smith. Received November 1, 9.15 a.m. DURBAN, October 31. General White reports that the capitulated regiments were unblameable. Their positions were .selected by himself, and proved untenable. Fnrty-two officers and 1500 men, including the Ist (not the 2nd) Battalion of the Irish Fusiliers, capitulated.
