At Waverley on Friday all classes of stock largely exceeded the advertised numbers. The various cattle yards were mostly well filled. quality generally was good. Bidding was brisk, almost the whole going off under the hammer. Sheep in large numbers sold freely, and at an advance on previous rates. At St. Hill Street yesterday cattle were in limited supply. For bullocks and fresh steers an unsatisfied inquiry existed. Sheep were plentiful, and the bulk sold. Prices for stores in relation to fat may be described' as being at a premium. Good sound breeding ewes of any quality rule high. Pigs in moderate supply made recent rates. During the week we disposed of a number of flock rams passed in at the Fair. We may mention as an item of interest that the s.s. Gertie left this port for Lyttelton on Monday night, under charter to some well-known local graziera, with a carge of fat wethers, for the Addington market.
