THE WANGANUI AND WEST COAST CYCLING CLUB.
The Committee of the above Club was held last evening, when Dr Hatherly, 1 President of the Club, presided over a 1 full attendance. • The racing members of the Club attended, and a lengthy discussion ensued ; regarding various matters in which the Club h welfare was concerned. The ac- ; tions of tho Committee in endeavouring to put an end to all ill-feeling by the amalgamation of the two club's was fully explained, and the riders intimated their thorough satisfaction with the efforts of 1 of the Committee, to whom they gave an assurance that they would stick loyally to their Club, and do their utmost to promote its advancement in every way. J After the ridors had withdrawn, the Committee dealt with the following business wich Mrß. N. Gatenby in the chair, Dr Hatherly having to retire :— Correspondence was dealt with as follows :— From Wanganui Bicycle Club re amalgamation ; refusing same. Ordered to be on the table. From Secretary League, giving certain information re championships. Left with the Secretary to deal with re most suitable date for i same, &c. From Secretary of League, forwarding permit for Boxing Day. From same source re putting of, a programme ' far crack Australian riders expected to i tour New Zealaud. Secretary was in- < etructed to apply for more information i regarding same. , , The sub-Committee submitted programme for annual fixture for Boxing j Day, the stakes amounting to— cycling ' events, £120; pedestrian events (cash ' running men), £55 ; making a total of I £175. In addition to the numerous 1 trophies promised, bringing the total to ' £200, which was duly passed. j r, M ««irs Remington, P. Murray, and R. I It. McNiven were appointed a Finance ' Committee to work in conjunction with j the Secretary regarding all necessary ex- i penditure for the big Boxing Day fixture l outside the stakes given for cycling and i pedestrianism. s The Secretary was instructed to make J eaily inquiries at the various shipping s offices in town, with a view ta securing excursion steamers from Nelson, Wel- , lington and other ports on Christmas i Eve to Wanganui, and to leave no stone unturnedwhich would contribute towards t the inducement of visitors to the town at _ Christmas. * __._gj ' ' — — — n
