The ordinary fortnightly me&ting of the Wanganui Borough Council wa.3 held list evening, when there were pi*e3ent his Worship the Mayor (Mr A. Httrick) and Councillors A.J. Pa:-=OT*, K. M. Gatenby, T. D. Cummin--, G. W. Collins, E. N. Liffiton, P. Bell and E. Perrett*. An apology was recaived from Cc Spurdle. To do this be reminded them lhat it wis necessary for tbem to conform to the common rules of procedure in connection with the conduct of the meetings of public bodies. He had, he said, a complaint t> make with reference to committee meetings. He had callad a meeting of the two gentlemen appoiutsd to aot with him in dealing with the annual tenders for 11.30 on fche pra**ious morning, but neither of the gentlemen attended. Ha then fixe-} the meetkig for 7.80 o'clock, when only one attended. Tenders — The Committee repotted bavins, accepted the following tanderi for supplies and leasing:— Carting, J. Downer ; timber, Wauganui Sish and Door Factory j fuil, Horsley and Co ; drain pip3s, R. O Clark ; cemdut, D. MoFarlane ; feaoing wire, D. I_cFarlane ; ironwork and shoeing, W, Armstrong; dog collar-*!, G. Ellisoa; horse feed, no tender received. — Laasiag resi-r^es — Lot 1, Mra F. W. Hickefcfc, £1; Lot 2, not tendered for; Lot 3, J.Guthrie.XlO 2s ; Lot 4, not tendered for ; Lot 5, Laird Bros., £18. Meeting— lt was dscided to hold the next ordinary meeting on the lltb Jrouary next. Holidays — It waa resolved fiat the Council's offijes be closed fiom tbe 24:h inst to tbe 3rd Jinuary. Domain Board — The Mayor wa3 appointed Chairman of the Domain Board. Cheques— The Mayor waa appointed to eigu ctuquss. tiease — It wrs resolved that permission be given, on the application of* Mr W. J. Traa'dwell, to the trustees iu Smiley's estate to sub-let a portion ot Bbck 26, Town Belt to the Jockey Club. Biuht-of-Way — On the application of Mr W. J. Treadwell permission was given to Mr B, VfcO-ul to est tblish a right of way on his premises, Bilgway Street. Auctioneer!,' Licenses — It vaa resolved thit the Town Clerk have power to issue renewal of licenses to auctioneers. Surplus of Jubilee Fund — The allocation of the surplus of MS from the Jubilee Fund was thoD considered, and, oa the motion cf Cr Parpens, seconded by Cr Perrett. it was rsaol-red that tho sum of £25 be given to the Wanganui Orphanage and that the balance ba handed to the Rav Mother Mary Joseph Aubert, for the use of her home for waifs and b tray 8. Meat License— Mr Jsmes Watt wrota applying for a meat purveyor's license for Mr r. Mitchtl*, aikirig the Council to Sis a time for che consideration of the application, and that he should bii allowed to ' attind on bahal? of the applicant, Mr Watt also suggested that the Borough solicitor sbould also be present. — Resolved that the matter be hfell over until next meeting.
