General Elles is making steady advance into the Mohmandu' country, and the force under his command occupied Fott Guudab uneppased, after a toilsome march through barren, hilly country devoid o! roads, aod impracticable for artillery. He lost 30 killed in the recent fighting on the Samana range The Orakz»is and Afridis Jhave disparsed, and havo returned to their homes. Ltibsr reports show that Fort Gnlistan was relieved by Brigadier-General Brags' force after three day's continuous fighting. The Commaudant'a wife and four children were living in the fort, and underwent the seige along with the garrison. Lieutenant Bailey was kilted en the night of the attack. He was a New Zealander, and along with Lieutenant Torn kins exposed himself in directing the infantry against the attack. The light from the camp fire and the bright moonlight enabled the tribesmen to aim from behind the rocks. The British casualties totalled 10 men.
