A pleasant eveniner was spent at Commercial Hotel last Saturday, when the members of the Football Club and friends took the opportunity of presenting Mr D. Thurston with a handsomo writing desk and dressing case before hiß departure for Porewa. Mr F. Maeon made his presentation, after which Mr Thurston suitably responded. A quiet wedding ioofc place here last Thursday, the contracting parties beiDg Mr Finloy McDonald and Mi*a Elmslie, the eldest daughter of Mr Peter Elmslie. I am Fiire all footballers and friends will join with me in wishing them long life and happiness. A deputation from the cricket and football clubs, and the Sports Association waited on the Domain Board last Tuesday re their assistance in getting a pony mower for the liocreation Ground. The following resolution was passed : — .That tbe Board get a pony mower, providing the different clubs guaruntee to keep the grass cut to the satisfaction of the Board. It now remains for the clubs to act. It may be mentioned, not only the clubs will get the benefit of the mower, bnt the outside public a 8 well.
